DNA sequencing with nanopores is a process in which a potential difference is applied across a membrane to draw DNA through a nanopore; measuring the resulting blockage of ion conductance allows sequencing of the strand.
Taylor’s research focusses on the effect that altering the conformation and charge of the nanopore itself has on the behaviour of DNA as it translocates through the pore.
